Do you have something in life you really want to do, be or experience, but fear keeps getting in the way?
(( give yourself a little white space to ponder this for a moment … what is calling you? ))
Let’s do one brave thing today. I’m challenging you (and me) to take a tiny step toward what we want, even a centimeter closer, and see how it feels. Of course, there will be some discomfort because we’re stepping outside of our comfort zones and into something unfamiliar, but the payoff? When we take a step closer to our heart’s desire, it takes a step closer to us. One of my friends posted a quote this week and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect:
Paulo Coelho, the Alchemist
“My heart is afraid it will have to suffer,” the boy told the alchemist one night as they looked up at the moonless sky. “Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of it’s dreams.”
Since it’s my idea, I’ll do my brave thing first, then you can go.
Sending you this email (and posting it here) IS my scary thing. There’s a project I was inspired to start last year and even though I have recordings of video interviews that I did with several women across the world, and the conversations are powerful, and the women are brilliant … I’ve been terrified of sharing them. Typing this to you now, I realize how selfish I’ve been, letting my fears prevent me from sharing something that can assist. My fear of judgement and criticism have been playing their parts in holding me back, but as I write to you I’m also realizing I’ve ben afraid of not being enough (smart enough especially) and I’m also sensing fear of success. What if people like the interviews, see that I’m out there and start asking me to do more than I can do (back to enough again, eh)? Fear can be such a strange and maddening thing.
But today, my brave thing is to move through the anxiousness and fear and send you this email (and posting it here) with the link to the first video, episode 001 in a series of interviews for the You First Project! If you have challenges putting yourself first or are new to the conversation (or just curious : ) ) you can check it out here.
Now it’s your turn … hit reply or come over to Facebook and tell me what brave thing you’re doing today. It takes a village and I believe that we grow best when surrounded by supportive souls.
From my fearless heart to yours,
